One thing I’ve noticed about myself is that I am periodically struck by bouts of awe regarding those students on campus who have taken it upon themselves to be difference makers at CUC. These revolutionary individuals are few and far between, but I was fortunate enough to meet such a person during a class last semester.
Sometime ago Pierre Williams noticed a deficiency on campus, and instead of passing the proverbial buck he took it upon himself to initiate change.
For him that meant helping create wholesome, fulfilling spiritual pursuits for the men at CUC.
During the class I took with him,
Pierre would periodically talk about the various things he had planned for the campus via his men’s ministry. It was apparent to me, and I presume to everyone else in the classroom, that he had found something to be passionate about. He had found something worth fighting for.
I have come to believe that it takes passion to facilitate change. It is easy to complain about this and to complain about that, but until a person is struck by such fervor that it causes them to personally accept the challenge of mending the deficiencies they perceive, nothing will ever truly be accomplished to right that wrong.
So here and now I wish to applaud difference makers like
Pierre. They are the hope of the student body.
